Double Amputee Running Down Childhood Obesity
Online, January 24, 2011 (Newswire.com) - John Prenguber, a runner since the early 80's, has had an impressive running career, including 9 marathons, one of which, was Boston. In 2000, infections complicated by diabetes, necessitated amputation of one leg and then the other a year later. Both legs were removed below the knee. He doubted he would ever run again. "I thought that was it," Prenguber said. He is back, logging miles and setting goals, with an eye towards the 2011 New York City Marathon.
Prenguber has taken his love for the sport and turned it into a way of recovery and growth, John aspires to motivate children to start running! He will be sharing his story to children involved with the KRA program, on January 26 at Northridge Elementary in Highlands Ranch.
John Prenguber and KRA representatives will be available for interviews the day of the assemblies or upon request.
