As a thought-leader in his field, Dr. Chakravarti is also dedicated to advancing the knowledge base of radiation oncology through cutting edge research. Currently, his research focuses primarily on investigating the molecular, genetic, and epigenetic mechanisms of treatment resistance in human tumors, and developing strategies to circumvent this resistance. His research team has broken ground by uncovering new ways to target tumors. He noted:

Chakravatri currently serves as Chair of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG)’s Brain Tumor Translational Research Group and Co-Chair of the clinical RTOG Brain Tumor Committee. Further, he is the United States delegate on the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Brain Tumor Steering Committee. He is also a standing member of the NIH Cancer Biomarkers Study Section (CBSS) and serves on NIH P01 and Specialized Programs of Research Excellence (SPORE) review panels, respectively. For his accomplishments, Dr. Chakravarti has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology.
