Dr. Craig Camasta Keynotes for Australian Surgical Conference

Online, September 9, 2010 (Newswire.com) - "New Approaches for a New Decade" was the theme at the Sixth Annual Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons (ACPS) Scientific Symposium held at the Vibe Hotel in Sydney. The ACPS is an association of 240 podiatrists serving communities throughout Australia. Each year, the organization's conference provides podiatrists with a broad exposure to technology and innovations, clinical skills and conservative surgical techniques.

At the August session, speakers included leading podiatric surgeons from Australia and the U.S. Dr. Craig Camasta, a recognized authority on reconstructive surgery for the lower extremity, opened the event delivering the keynote address. Dr. Camasta is a director and researcher at The Podiatry Institute in Atlanta where he also bases his private practice as a senior partner with Village Podiatry Centers.

To launch the two days of workshops, Dr. Camasta addressed global developments in lower extremity surgery by conveying his experience as a practicing podiatric surgeon in the U.S., Canada, Germany and Australia. His theme was the increasing internationalization of the standard of care in foot and ankle medicine and surgery.

During the sessions, Dr. Camasta further shared his expertise by participating as a guest lecturer. The topics he discussed included arthrodesis techniques, advances in Charcot foot management and pediatric flatfoot.
