Dr. James Norman Chosen as Finalist for the Tampa Bay Business Journal's Health Hero Award

Online, September 14, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Dr. James (Jim) Norman, a surgeon specializing in the treatment of parathyroid disease, has been chosen as one of six finalists for the Tampa Bay Business Journal's annual Health Hero Award for Physicians. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that have a significant impact on the quality of health care in their community.

Dr. Norman is known as one of the world's leading authorities on parathyroid disease, hyperparathyroidism, and the surgical treatment of parathyroid tumors. Dr. Norman is the senior of three surgeons at the Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa, Florida, and is the Director of the Parathyroid Center at Tampa General Hospital. Over 2,200 patients travel from all 50 states and more than a dozen foreign countries to have surgery at TGH's Parathyroid Center, comprising over 75% of all parathyroid operations performed in the state of Florida each year and about 11% of all parathyroid operations performed in the U.S each year.
