Dr. Leah Hollis Offers A Key Note Address for Community College Partnerships Online Seminar
Online, April 16, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Dr. Leah Hollis will serve as one of the keynote speakers for the Community College Partnerships Online Students Success Seminar co-sponsored by Bellevue University and Montgomery County Community College on April 19, 2013. Participants from across the greater Philadelphia region have been invited to participate and learn of findings from the critical study examining the online capacity for serving students online. This study conducted by Dr. Jeffrey Holmes strives to establish norms and best practices for service to students in a virtual environment.
With over 20 years' experience in higher education and eleven years of online teaching, Dr. Hollis will speak to faculty and administrators from over 50 schools in the region to reflect on best practices in online learning. As the Obama administration has set goals for the nation to have 60% of its population college educated by 2020, online learning has been the pathway for community college and four year college students to obtain a degree while balancing a hectic work and family schedule.
Dr. Hollis's talk will focus on proper strategies for engaging at-risk students online. Often, such students are returning students, veterans, and GED recipients who have not used a computer let alone set foot in a classroom over the last ten years.
With a love of teaching and commitment to helping others aspire to their dreams, Dr. Hollis will reflect on her own commitment to education and her extensive online teaching to provide participants with an engaging look at reaching students within America's shifting demographic.
"Education is not only the way to the American dream, it is the cornerstone of self-actualization, providing training to support one's career and family," says Hollis.
