Drag Artists Brave New Omicron Virus to Bring Holiday Cheer Across SoCal to Those in Need

LOS ANGELES, December 9, 2021 (Newswire.com) - As the first case of the new and possibly fatal Covid variant, Omicron, was recently detected in LA, an informal group of drag artists is bravely countering pandemic stress by spreading their own brand of holiday cheer. Fully vaccinated, following all CDC guidelines and hosting their own shows in venues across SoCal, Jackette Knightley's Drag Queens and Kings for Causes are using their weekly SoCal shows to gather donations for those in need throughout December. This informal group of independent drag performers dedicated to highlighting social justice issues and meeting community needs celebrate their second annual holiday drive by gathering food and hygiene items for clients from the following LGBT non-profits: San Diego LGBT Center; LGBTQ Center of Orange County; LGBT Center of Long Beach and food store, AFS; APLA Health in Los Angeles; and DAP Health in Palm Springs.  

Founder, recording artist, and contender for eight Anthem Awards, Jackette Knightley, credits community involvement and her fellow drag performers for the great success of their multiple, year-round charity drives. She notes, "The success of every event is a reflection of our outstanding entertainers and community participation. Success requires the multi-talents and diversity of an all-inclusive, ensemble cast."

Past events have garnered nods from Grammy-winning Leann Rimes, Paula Abdul, Melissa Etheridge, Emmy-winning Delta Work, Glen Alen, Robert Iscove from Whitney Houston's Cinderella, HBO's Shangela and Eureka O'Hara from We're Here, and Mayhem Miller from RPDR. Mayhem reprises her involvement in this year's charity drive from her Chill Bar residency in Palm Springs. Other SoCal drag entertainers round out this 2021 holiday cast such as Mariam T from MO's Bar & Gossip Grill in San Diego, Wilhelmina Caviar from Strut Nightclub in Orange County, Psycadella Facade and Big Dee from Hamburger Mary's Long Beach, Dani Kay from Hamburger Mary's West Hollywood, Borgia Bloom from The Boulevard Bar in Pasadena, and Rusty Waters from Hunter's Nightclub in Palm Springs.

This year's charity drive is called, "What If Love's Enough?" the same name as Ms. Knightley's new holiday single. She will be performing this and her two other new releases, "Heat's on the Rise" and "O Holy Night" throughout December 2021 at many of these venues and at her own show at The VFW in Burbank on NYE at 9 pm. Her music is available everyplace music is sold. All proceeds are donated to the five LGBT non-profits of choice during December.
