E Bunny: Grass Roots Community Group Brings Hope & Joy To Thousands Of Homeless & Underprivileged Children
Beyond the glitz of the Vegas strip, thousands of children live in poverty with their families. Thanks to the generosity of caring businesses, groups and individuals, E Bunny has delivered Easter cheer for 23 years... and they're not stopping now!
Online, February 5, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Just one basket. That's all it takes to make a kid's day, come Easter.
E Bunny isn't asking for money. Just one basket. Or a few. Or a few hours help, to make the 2013 Easter Basket give-a-way program a success.
Caring individuals, organizations, businesses, schools and social-service leaders have helped bring thousands of Easter baskets to homeless and underprivileged children for 23 years. Thanks to the community outreach effort in Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson, 2,800 children got baskets and a visit from the Easter Bunny in 2012!
Recipients of last year's give-away included Las Vegas City Mission, Las Vegas Rescue Mission, Casa De Luz, Family Promise, Straight from the Streets, Clark County Social Services, Children's Hospital of Nevada (UMC), State of Nevada Family Services, Safe House and HELP of Southern Nevada.
As homelessness and poverty increases, this tradition brings delight to ever more kids and their families each year. While it's not a religious program, E BUNNY brings the real meaning of Easter to children in need, letting them know others in our community care.
"It's turned into an Easter tradition, first in Detroit, now here in Vegas" explained Barbara Kenig, coordinator and founder of E BUNNY. "Every year wonderful people volunteer time and donate baskets to make this an extraordinary effort. Parents have told me they have used E Bunny as an example, teaching their kids the spirit of giving. It's heartwarming. And, fun."
E Bunny gives baskets away to a dozen or more organizations that don't have Easter baskets for their children. Then, on the Friday before Easter, trucks loaded to the brim with colorful baskets make their way into some of the poorest neighborhoods in the Vegas Valley
E Bunny organizers are trying to reach as many children as possible. Here's how the public can help:
1. Purchase an Easter Basket by March 21st , then deliver it to at an E BUNNY drop off location
2. Inspire others! Get your kids, family, friends and neighbors involved
3. Hold an Easter Basket Drive in your school, church, social group or at your business
4. Businesses, Casinos etc. can sponsor E BUNNY by holding employee basket drives
E Bunny is seeking donations of pre-packaged Easter Baskets, the ones you see at any grocery, drugstore, or retail store. Although we love handmade baskets, store purchased baskets are requested, since they're built to stay intact during handling and travel. Monetary contributions are not accepted; only baskets that will be delivered directly to the kids!
Children living in poverty struggle everyday to have a normal life. They can feel alone... and helpless. Easter/Spring is a time of hope and renewal. Donate a basket, and put a smile on the face of a child in need!
