E-Cigs: The Smoke Free Revolution
Online, December 21, 2012 (Newswire.com) - When lawmakers began raising taxes on tobacco products and outlawing smoking in various places, they did not know that eCigs were poised to grab a market hungry for nicotine. Since their introduction from China in 2007, eCigs have been sold to millions of satisfied customers. In fact, this industry jumped from approximately 250 million dollars in 2011 to a projection of better than double for 2012. Perhaps it can be said that eCigs are making tobacco products obsolete in much the same way as digital cameras spelled ruination for film cameras and their associated developing studios.
According to Madeline Jones, eCigs are easy to use, convenient and safe. "It's the simplest thing in the world. The eCig itself is about the same size, shape, and weight as a normal cigarette. It has a small battery at one end, and a vial for nicotine fluid at the other. In between them is a heating element that turns the liquid into vapor, which you inhale. Not only have I found them easy to use, no one around me can even detect stray odors or smoke, since they don't exist.
Even though the eCig industry has been growing exponentially, manufacturers claim that it has only begun to tap an enormous market. They estimate that sales will quadruple, translating into a 2 billion dollar industry that has yet to be fully regulated by the FDA. Aside from that, virtually everyone that switches to eCig knows that they are saving an enormous amount of money when compared to purchasing regular tobacco products.
A look at purchasing and use trends released by ECH Research indicates that 70% of eCig users have no intention of trying to use them to quit smoking. Instead, they purchased these devices for the sake of convenience. That said, almost 20% of eCig users stopped smoking completely, while 62% made reductions in their reliance on tobacco products. At the same time, a whopping 79% of respondents reported that they purchased eCigs on more than a single occasion.
As troubling as nicotine addiction may be, smokers and the rest of society no longer need to put up with the sight of yellowed teeth, disgusting odor, and general misery associated with conventional cigarettes. Today, eCigs represents a revolutionary change in nicotine delivery that enables people to save money even as the industry out paces many others. "When I first started smoking, I had no choice other than to put up with the odor and changes to my physical appearance," says Jones. "Take my word for it, changing to eCigs was the best thing I ever did, and will be for millions of others that haven't even tried them yet."
