Earnest Harris Prepping To Direct His Next Feature Film, "Wanda's Place"
Film Will Be Third For The Director and One of Two He Is Slated To Direct in 2010
Online, September 7, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Los Angeles, CA (September 7, 2009) - Earnest Harris, in the follow up to his last release, "A Simple Promise," has begun work on his next feature film, "Wanda's Place," which is scheduled to begin shooting in Los Angeles in February of 2010. "Wanda's Place" which was also written by Harris, is a star studded film featuring some of the most recognized names in the movie business. It is an urban comedy about an inner city community that bands together during tough times to help save one of the neighborhood's most beloved hangouts.
"Wanda's Place," which is being produced by Marlo Productions, has secured commitments from Loretta Devine, Robin Givens, Paul Rodriguez, Tommy Davidson, Lee Thompson Young, Kristin Herrera, Sheryl Underwood and several others to star in the uplifting film.
"I am incredibly excited about this project," said Earnest Harris. "This film is very different from my last project, 'A Simple Promise." The star power alone is incredible but doing a comedy this time is also a change for me. I am generally more inclined towards drama but this story, which my wife and I came up with together, is just a natural. And with that cast, I'm really feeling good about it."
Harris will not have a lot of down time after shooting ends on this project, as he has also agreed to direct a second film in 2010, the urban drama 'Back 2 Society" which he describes somewhat as a modern day "West Side Story" about a former gang banger who has to choose between his former life and a woman he falls for. Shooting on that project is slated for October of 2010, so as post production winds down on 'Wanda's Place" Harris will be concurrently beginning preproduction on "Back 2 Society."
"Some might consider this to be a crazy schedule," Harris said. "But I love directing and being on movie sets, so I'm like, bring it on. I love a challenge and you know what they say, sometimes you just have to strike while the iron's hot. Things are just working out for this next year to get these done. I can rest later."
Harris is also a producer on both projects so he will not find time for that relaxation anytime soon, but it sounds like this is exactly the way he likes it. Dianna Harris, who also is known as Dianna Perales Harris in the industry, is Harris's wife and the principal producer on the films, says this is exactly how Harris wants it.
"Earnest loves to work. In fact this isn't even work to him, it's play. He simply is happiest when he's directing. This is what he is meant to do," Perales Harris said.
