Cosmetology School Hopes To Raise $35,000 For Triangle Land Conservancy During Earth Month

The Aveda Institute Chapel Hill is continuing its partnership with Triangle Land Conservancy during its Earth Month Campaign for 2011. Since 2006, Aveda Institute Chapel Hill has raised over $100,000 for Triangle Land Conservancy. During March, April and May, the cosmetology and skin care school hopes to raise $35,000. There are several donation options, including Earth Jam 2011 Fashion Night Benefit, Tip for a Cause and Beauty for the Earth.

FASHION NIGHT BENEFIT APRIL 12
On Tuesday, April 12, the Aveda Institute Chapel Hill student and educator team, along with Aveda Purefessional Hauns Korpela from Scott J Salon in New York City, will sponsor Earth Jam 2011 - a fashion benefit night which will be held at the Great Room at Top of the Hill Restaurant in Chapel Hill. The theme of Earth Jam 2011 is "House of Fashion." Show segments will be inspired by the designs of Prada, Jean Paul Gaultier, Versace, Chanel, Betsey Johnson and Alexander McQueen. Aveda Institute Chapel Hill graduates will produce a segment representing Vera Wang.

Earth Jam 2011 will feature a live auction at intermission. Auction items include beach vacations, a romantic night out in Chapel Hill, a basketball signed by UNC Basketball Coach Roy Williams and more. Guests will also have a chance to bid on art created by Aveda Institute Chapel Hill students.

Tickets to Earth Jam 2011 start at only $20 and can be purchased at Aveda Institute Chapel Hill. Or, to purchase tickets by phone, please call Loren Vitter at (919) 869-8034, or visit www.avedainstitutechapelhill.com for more information. All ticket sales will benefit Triangle Land Conservancy.

BEAUTY FOR THE EARTH
On March 30, the Aveda Institute Chapel Hill held its third annual Beauty for the Earth fund raising event, during which guests received complimentary haircuts, facials and nail services. Over 330 guests participated in Beauty for the Earth and approximately $2,500 was raised for Triangle Land Conservancy during the event.

TRIANGLE LAND CONSERVANCY
Triangle Land Conservancy has protected our green spaces, farms and waterways since 1983 as the only local conservation organization working across six counties of the Triangle. A local, nonprofit land trust, Triangle Land Conservancy has protected almost 14,691 acres throughout the Triangle - an area more than twice the size of Research Triangle Park - to safeguard clean water, support local farms and food, protect wildlife habitat and connect people with nature.
