"Eating for Breastfeeding" Supports DC Breastfeeding Center
Breastfeeding Chef has donated tote bags as well as a January 10th, 2015 "Eating for Breastfeeding" class where all proceeds go towards Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington program funding.
Washington, D.C. , December 30, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Breastfeeding Chef™, in collaboration with Whole Foods Market Nickels for Non-Profits program, has donated tote bags as well as a January 10th, 2015 “Eating for Breastfeeding” class where all proceeds go towards Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington program funding.
The Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington has been selected for Whole Foods Market P Street’s Nickels for Non-Profits, a community giving program which features a local non-profit for three months. Every time a customer reuses a shopping bag at the Whole Foods Market P Street location in Washington, DC a nickel is donated to the Center. The goal of the program is to reduce use of new bags while increasing funding for local non-profits. The program runs now through January 18th, 2015.
"My goal is to help mothers understand that whole plant foods are our best ally to help us raise healthy, happy children, families, and communities. I'm excited to take part in this opportunity with Whole Foods Market P Street, supporting the beautiful programs the Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington puts together to advance breastfeeding and successful parenting throughout the DC metro area."

Proceeds from Nickels for Non-Profits will help the Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington fund a Donor Milk Program, giving mothers and babies who are in need of breast milk access to free donor milk from a HMBANA milk bank. The Center would also be able to add a second New Moms Support Group that offers moms professional support from an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) in a group setting. Adding a second support group would allow the Center to serve an additional 30-40 moms and babies a week.
