Eco-friendly Open Air Market Launches at Irvine Valley College Saturday, January 14, 2012

Online, January 4, 2012 (Newswire.com) - OC Green Market, a division of Healthy Bargains, LLC, an online retailer of discounted natural products, has announced the grand opening of a new eco-friendly green market at Irvine Valley College, a local community college. The launch date is scheduled for Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 9am - 2pm. Festivities include children's activities such as creating mini cactus gardens and eco-friendly crafts; Seabirds and Garlicscapes food trucks; green products and services; holistic and alternative therapies and non-profit organizations educating on how to live a green and healthy lifestyle. Admission is free but a $2 parking permit is required by the college. Parking reimbursement is offered, stop by the Information booth to receive. Green Saturdays @ OC Green Market will be open once a month every 2nd Saturday.

OC Green Market was created because while Orange County is rich in Certified Farmer's Markets, there are no markets where consumers can purchase eco-conscious products and services in a "one stop shop". The mission of OC Green Market is not only to provide a location for local merchants to sell a variety of green products and services, but to also raise awareness of holistic, alternative and complimentary medical therapies that consumers may not be aware exist. Education on how to live environmentally friendly and healthy lives will be provided by local non-profit organizations.

Classes on a variety of topics will begin January 14 and will continue monthly at every market date. The inaugural class topic will be 'Alternative Herbal Remedies to Children's Over the Counter Medications'. Fitness classes such as Yoga and Zumba will be added as well.

"I want to pull in people who don't know about living green and educate them to see how it can fit into their lifestyle," said Rana Sabeh, creator of OC Green Market . "It's an opportunity for them to understand that it's a win-win for their health, families and for the environment, as well."

Another goal for OC Green Market is to collaborate with local schools like Irvine High who have student run campus clubs that encourage environmental awareness among their student body.
