Her father, a master stone carver, operated a business out of their kitchen window ledge, where Liza witnessed remarkable artistry from a young age. She spent hours arranging her father's rough stone collection, and learned how to polish Amber at the age of five.

When Liza's family moved to Israel, she spent her summers helping at her father's Old Jaffa Gallery with jewelry making. When the family moved to Los Angeles, Liza was sixteen years old. She started her own business creating handmade original designs and selling them as a street vendor. In the past twenty five years, Liza has evolved as a designer, as a member of the Silver Lake/Los Feliz community and, as a retail store owner.
