Education Giants Return to Iran

National TVET Week kicks off in Iran next week and its reported we will see the return of international education and assessment companies to the country, with several partnerships said to be in place with major US companies.

National TVET Week kicks off in Iran on Saturday 25th July 2015 with the launch of several international collaborations and projects between the Iranian Technical Vocational Training Organization (Iran TVTO) and world renowned educational institutions.

Iran TVTO with its network of 14,500 training centers and annual intake of 2.5 million students is already recognized as one of the largest training organizations in the Middle East, but in recent years it has taken giant steps in improving international relations between Iran and the rest of the world through its unique "Vocational Diplomacy" strategy, as well as establishment of Iran as a regional leader for technical and vocational education.

Fresh from the recent agreement between Iran and the P5 + 1, TVET Week in Iran sees the return of major academic and vocational brands to the country with collaborations and partnerships already in place between Iran TVTO and Planet Edu, Cardff Met University, Peoplecert, MHD Academy and IDP Australia. It is also said that some leading US education and testing organizations are also in advanced discussions with Iran TVTO and are currently awaiting OFAC licences to offer their services in Iran.

With a population of over 80 million with over 70% under the age of 35, Iran not only has the natural resources but also the necessary human capital for international companies to be able to thrive. As one leading analyst put it Iranian capital markets have the ability to be like "Turkey on steroids" - a reference to the way the country has become a major financial centre straddling Europe and the Middle East.

Dr Kourosh Parand, Deputy Minister of Co-operatives, Labour and Social Welfare and President of Iran TVTO highlighted Iran's position within technical and vocational skills and said: "Team Iran has participated actively in recent WorldSkills Games with impressive results, highlighting not only the talent of Iranians but also the importance attached to technical and vocational skills in Iran." Dr Parand also added: "Team Iran will be present in Brazil for WorldSkills 2015 in August and we expect, like previous years, the team to not only be medal winners but also goodwill ambassadors for Iran to the world."

With such optimism surrounding Iran since the historic nuclear agreement and intensive visits by leading European businesses to Tehran sounding out potential opportunities, TVET Week in Iran is the perfect platform for Iranians to showcase their talents and skills to eager employers and investors around the world.
