EInfochips Announces Smallest Form-Factor System-on-Module Around Texas Instruments' DaVinci™ DM816x And DM814x
eInfochips announced the launch of the smallest form-factor system-on-module (SOM) developed based on DaVinci™ DM816x and DM814x video processors from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI).
Online, April 4, 2012 (Newswire.com) - SUNNYVALE, Calif. and AHMEDABAD, India, eInfochips, a leading product engineering services company, today announced the launch of the smallest form-factor system-on-module (SOM) developed based on DaVinci™ DM816x and DM814x video processors from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). eInfochips, which has over 15 years of end-to-end electronic product design and development experience, has developed a pin-compatible SOM for DaVinci DM816x and DM814x video processors with different pin maps.
The compact form-factor SOM (75 mm x 37 mm) is an ideal off-the-shelf solution for product developers designing high-end video processing systems. The SOM addresses the key challenge of designing and developing customized hardware solutions for different industry verticals and product segments. With maximum hardware complexity handled by a re-usable SOM, customers can derive multiple advantages including reduced development time and cost.
The solution empowers product companies to enrich their product mix by integrating a SOM into different carrier cards for launching multiple product variant. The SOM can also be easily integrated into existing hardware systems, to maximize computing power for performance improvement.
"We wanted to assist product designers in developing products with reduced time, effort and cost, to foster innovation. This was "the aim" when we conceptualized the SOM based on TI's DaVinci DM816x and DM814x video processors," said Dhaval Parikh, hardware division head, eInfochips. "The pin-compatible, smallest form-factor SOM combines the benefits of TI's high-end video processing SOCs for developing high-end video-specific applications. Throughout development, we put special emphasis on thermal and power stability without compromising on providing superior performance with the smaller form-factor."
Application Areas
• Video controllers (machine vision, medical imagining)
• High-end video processing IP cameras
• Video surveillance recorders
• Medical video recorders
• Digital signage
• Multichannel video server
• Video conferencing
• A range of multimedia applications that require high-end video processing
eInfochips, member of the TI Developer Network, has a proven track record of system and product development on TI's various processor platforms. The new design of this pin-compatible SOM based on TI's DaVinci DM816x and DM814x video processors is a great example of eInfochips' design capabilities around TI's SOCs, " said Cyril Clocher, business unit manager, video security, TI. "Based on our decade-old relationship with eInfochips, we are excited about the enhanced system performance this SOM will give our video customers."
eInfochips offers SOM-based product development as well as application-specific SOM development services to end application customers.
