Electric-Folk-Rock Group Back From ACL Releases Album & Announces Tour
Trio Returns to Home State of Minnesota to Kick Off Music Tour at The Fine Line Music Cafe
Online, October 14, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Kazyak announces the official release of their debut album, A Beautiful Brontosaurus on October 19 through GroundUp Productions. The much anticipated debut will be supported by a tour kicking off with a CD release party in the trio's home town of Minneapolis at The Fine Line Music Cafe. Kazyak just returned from the Austin City Limits Music Festival this week where they played as the rhythm section for Minneapolis-based, kindie band, and long time college pals, The Okee Dokee Brothers.
Kazyak is currently back in Minneapolis prepping for their CD release party, which will feature the sounds of singer songwriter, Brian Laidlaw, the Sans Souci Quartet, and Sepia Tone. A small art gallery by local artists, Bridget Blatzheim and Kelli O'Keefe will round out a full night of art and music.
The band's roots stretch back to when Jed Anderson, Peter Frey and Danny Vitali met during their freshman year at St. John's University in Collegeville, MN. The trio explored their talent as the rhythm section for numerous music projects throughout their college days.
In 2008 after college graduation, the nameless trio was Austin bound in an effort to really hone their sound.
Featuring 11 original songs, the full-length CD showcases wide form and structure while using improvisation that shys from musical molds. The trio's rollicking jams and melodic vocals blend jazz, bluegrass, and even classical elements to create a fresh sound not contained by traditional labels.
"The album-making process was extremely challenging," says drummer/ vocalist Jed Anderson. "It definitely pushed the limits, but in the end we found our sound."
Like the band name, Kazyak's music has the same feeling of being half composed and half improvised. Their live performances are energetic shows that incorporate dancing lights and lyrically-driven instrumental sections that gather a crowd and tell a story. That's where the folk part comes in. Yet at its core, Kazyak is a rock band.
While the famed music capitol of the world, Austin, TX was their musical incubator, The Twin Cities were the genesis of it all. For a preview of the album, visit: www.Kazyak.com.
