Electrical firm creates buzz with switch to independence

Whisper Electrical Limited has ended its franchise with HVMS and re-launched as Energy Network Services

A high voltage electrical firm has dropped its long-standing franchise arrangement and re-launched with a new name and a fresh brand.

Whisper Electrical Limited, which was a licensed franchise of HVMS for nine years, is now trading as an independent high voltage electrical contractor and has been renamed Energy Network Services.

The Dorset-based company, which has undertaken major infrastructure projects for the Ministry of Defence, Bournemouth Airport and Southampton Docks, specialises in the installation, operation and maintenance of low and high voltage networks ranging from 415V to 132kV.

Director Richard O'Shea said: "2010 is an exciting year for us - re-launching the company marks the start of greater commercial freedom. We've built a strong reputation for excellence and breaking free from the shackles of a franchise enables us to deliver even better value to our clients. We have performed well during the last year, bucking the trend during the recent financial turmoil.

"We're delighted with our new brand and are investing heavily in the future; with greater staff training and new accreditations in recognition of our skills."

Energy Network Services is a national company which lays the complete electrical infrastructure for projects such as housing estates as well as smaller projects such as protection testing, cable pulling and fault finding and repair. The firm is also responsible for the maintenance of electrical networks (including the Fords Transit plant in Eastleigh) and is currently helping a Local Authority with its emergency standby generator and UPS set up.

Existing clients have opted to stay with the firm, generating over £500,000 of future work. They include Southern Electric Contracting, IDNO Electricity Network Company GTC, IDNO Contractor Power On Connections, Serco, Interserve, European Land, and The Welsh Assembly.
