EliteSingles Study Reveals San Francisco Replaces New York City as the USA's Priciest Date Night
NEW YORK, September 18, 2019 (Newswire.com) - The annual Cost of a Date study from dating site EliteSingles is out for 2019. This year, San Francisco replaces New York as America’s priciest city for dating.
- At $143, San Francisco takes New York’s place as the priciest US city for date night
- At $83, Omaha is the cheapest city on the list - $60 less than SF
- An average US date night costs $116; global average is $85
- Oslo, Norway is the world’s priciest capital for dating. Washington DC is #3
EliteSingles defined 'date night' as dinner for two, a bottle of wine, two movie tickets, and a 5-mile cab ride. The dating site found the average costs of these items in 21 major US cities and 30 capitals around the world.
In 2019, an average US date night is $116. At $143, the country's most expensive date night is in San Francisco. In New York (#1 in 2017 and 2018), the same date is $142.
The cheapest city is Omaha, where a date costs $83 – $33 below average and $60 less than San Francisco.

A date night in Oslo, Norway is the world’s priciest at $159. At $142, London, UK, takes 2nd place, while Washington DC takes third at $135. Rounding out the top five are Tokyo, Japan ($134), and Stockholm, Sweden ($127).
The cheapest capital city for dating is Ankara, Turkey. A date in the city costs $36: less than the price Americans typically pay for dinner alone.
