Elizabeth M. Melton , General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, DCM Services, has joined The Expert Network, an invitation only service for distinguished professionals. Melton  has been chosen as a Distinguished Lawyer™ based on peer reviews and ratings, dozens of recognitions, and accomplishments achieved throughout her career.

Melton  outshines others in her field due to her extensive educational background, recognitions, and career longevity. She received her Bachelor of Science in education from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 1978. "I do work in credits and debt collection. The field has been highly regulated for a long time and since the Dodd-Frank Act came into effect it's gotten more complicated. So it is my role to ensure that we are being compliant with the law and sensitive to consumers."

With over 30 years dedicated to law, Melton  brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry, particularly to her area of specialization, debt collection and probate law. When asked why she  decided to go into law, Melton  said:

"When I went to college, I still thought the only two professions for women were teaching and nursing and I didn’t wanna be a nurse. I got my degree in education and said no, that’s not for me. I need some adversaries that aren’t so tough. So I got into law."

Melton currently serves as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at DCM Services. Previously, she served as General Counsel for I.C. Systems from 1983 to 2003 and was a partner with the firm Foley & Mansfield from 2003 to 2007. She also served on the board of the nonprofit Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota from 2002 to 2008. She noted:

"I do work in credits and debt collection. The field has been highly regulated for a long time and since the Dodd-Frank Act came into effect it’s gotten more complicated. So it is my role to ensure that we are being compliant with the law and sensitive to consumers."

As a thought-leader in her industry and community, Melton’s impact goes far beyond her work with DCM Services. In her own private practice, she frequently gave counsel to nonprofits and she also served on the board of the nonprofit Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota for six years, where she worked tirelessly to reduce child abuse in her community by raising awareness and supporting positive parenting and healthy families.
