Fremont, April 28th, 2010: The Children's Museum of Indianapolis was awarded, the 2010 IMA Outstanding Achievement Award by the Interactive Media Council. The award was given in the Museum category for the design of Take Me There: Egypt. The Outstanding Achievement Award recognizes the "highest standards of excellence in website design and development and honors individuals and organizations for their achievement."
Take Me There: Egypt, the newest permanent exhibit at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is an immersive experience for its visitors and features a variety of hands-on activities, and family learning opportunities. Visitors can play games and virtually explore modern day Egypt. Visitors get the feel of a virtual travel and learning about the life, geography and culture of Egypt. This fosters an understanding that is far beyond learning from textbooks.
One of the online games in the exhibit, "Explore Virtual Egypt" was developed by Emantras, Inc. The objective of this game is to give the visitors an idea of the language and currency of Egypt. We have used the context of a visit to the Cairo market. The visitor can interact with people, visit shops and make purchases. This way they get to use the understanding of the language and currency and also become familiar with the culture and history of Egypt. Visitors can also take pictures and add them to their travel journal.
"We are delighted to be recognized for our work on Take Me There: Egypt. It was truly a team effort, and we are privileged to have worked with The Children's Museum. We work on projects world-wide and it is good to know they are considered world-class examples of how the Internet can be used effectively for learning" said Sesh Kumar, Founder & CEO, Emantras.
