Emergency Communications Network Unveils CodeRED Mobile Alert App for Android™

Emergency Communications Network has announced the launch of the CodeRED Mobile Alert app for Android™ Smartphones, a free application which enables Android users to receive critical ccommunity and severe weather notifications wherever they are.

Emergency Communications Network (ECN), the pioneers of high-speed outbound notification services, has announced the launch of the CodeRED Mobile Alert app for Android™ Smartphones, a free application which enables Android users to receive critical community and severe weather notifications wherever they are. Notifications are provided by thousands of current ECN system users, who are comprised of national organizations and public safety officials across the country representing all 50 states.

Notifications are geographically based, so users will only receive alerts if they are in the area involving that particular community alert or severe weather notice. The app allows users to customize the types of notifications they receive and the app will instantly push out notifications contingent on the user's specific location.

"With thousands of downloads of our iPhone app we released in January, developing an Android app was the next obvious step in sharing this advanced technology across other mobile platforms. We worked closely with our developers to customize the app for the niche Android market," said David DiGiacomo, President & CEO of ECN.

The app also offers users access to regional warnings within a 500-mile radius of their current area as a cautionary tool for future travel or to inform loved ones in the path of a dangerous storm.

As hurricane season approaches and a record-breaking tornado season already underway, the CodeRED Mobile Alert app has the ability to quickly communicate critical community messages to mobile users, giving them the opportunity to tune into local emergency television and radio broadcasts for additional information. The app also provides an additional communication method for emergency managers when a current mass alert, like a tornado siren, may only be heard by those in the vicinity.

The CodeRED Mobile Alert app is a free download on Google Play. The app comes with a complimentary 30-day trial of CodeRED Weather Warning™, a program that sends subscribers notifications when they are in the projected path of severe weather. Notifications are received from The National Weather Service and immediately communicated with CodeRED Mobile Alert subscribers without any delay. The CodeRED Weather Warning add-on is an additional $4.99 per year. To learn more and download the CodeRED Android app, visit www.ecnetwork.com/coderedmobilealert/.
