Emmy nominated Director of Photography, Cliff Charles, to host Master Class on Cinematography at the 2010 American Black Film Festival

Cliff Charles,Director of Photography,founder of The People's DP Inc. and creator of DPTV (www.tpdp.tv), to present a Master Class on Cinematography at the American Black Film Festival being held in Miami, Florida June 22-26.

New York, New York - Emmy nominated Director of Photography and founder of The People's DP Inc., Cliff Charles, will present a Master Class on Cinematography at the American Black Film Festival (ABFF) being held in Miami, Florida June 22-26. The class is specifically designed to help enrich the relationship between Producer/Director and a film's Director of Photography (DP) in order to create the best possible film product. ABFF is an annual awards festival that recognizes achievements in independent Black cinema designed to heighten interest and exposure to Black films, and to salute the cinematic work of Black filmmakers, actors, and actresses

Charles embraces the various tools available to the art of cinematography and prides himself on adapting to the ever changing landscape of image making. Among his many credits are films such as Jesus Children of America, Good Hair Produced by Chris Rock, Spike Lee's When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts for which Charles earned an Emmy nomination and Jellysmoke, which won the LA Film festival in 2005 and was nominated for a Spirit Award in 2006.

His company, The People's DP (TPDP) provides complete production services using cost effective equipment packages, time saving workflows, greener production methods and camera crews of diverse backgrounds. Charles, through TPDP, has helped the film industry by maximizing the ever shrinking production budget without compromising the ability to create high quality images. About Cliff Charles

As a film student at Brooklyn College, Charles served on the school's Film Society, where he quickly revived the lifeless organization by implementing a guest speaker series. This type of initiative earned Charles an internship on the set of renowned filmmaker Spike Lee's Clockers, just weeks after completing his formal education. Exactly ten years after his internship, Charles landed a job as DP on the critically acclaimed HBO mini-series Miracle's Boys where he had the opportunity to shoot episodes for Spike Lee as well as Ernest Dickerson, Neema Barnett, Bill Duke, and LeVar Burton. Among his other credits, Charles has worked with such notable talents as Robert DeNiro, Mos Def, Dwayne Wade, Cheri Oteri, Michael Jordan and Britney Spears, along with Brands such as Anheuser Busch, State Farm, The Daily News, Lifetime and Converse just to name a few.
