About Kari Kelley

Born in Southern California, Kari spent her early life in foster care and was adopted the first time at nine months old.   Kari was abused in this household and, as a result, is legally blind.  Kari went back into foster care and was adopted a second time at the age of four. Kari spent her life in this family being abused and neglected.

She turned her childhood ordeal into an opportunity to inspire people to overcome adversity in their own lives. Kari is also a talented vocalist, motivational speaker and she has published her autobiography entitled Black Blind and Female. She has been a featured speaker, author and vocalist on a wide variety of stages, panels, radio and TV shows across the United States.

Kari is also featured in the May 2014 issue of Landmark Insights, about the creation, production and performance of her one-woman show “Somebody Else’s Child”.
