Encinitas Country Day Preschool Collects Pennies for Puppies
Online, April 23, 2010 (Newswire.com) - San Diego, CA----Students at Encinitas Country Day Preschool located on Encinitas Blvd. in Encinitas conducted a "Pennies for Puppies Popsicles Purple" fundraising campaign on March 24, 2010. The children collected pennies to support the efforts of the non-profit organization, Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs, who train service dogs for individuals with limited abilities. In exchange for their fundraising efforts, the children received purple dog-print ribbon bracelets and popsicles to reward them for their community service. Proceeds from the event raised $200 in pennies collected by the preschoolers.
According to Yvonne Espinosa, TLCAD volunteer, "It was wonderful to see the excitement of the children when they learned about our organization and when they met the puppies. The children discovered that by helping our organization, they were helping children with limited abilities become more independent. Boys and girls alike felt equally rewarded."
TLCAD is an all-volunteer run non-profit organization that provides custom-trained Assistance Dogs free of charge to people with limited abilities in San Diego County. They support the needs of people with medical conditions including children with autism, military veterans with PTSD, individuals with cerebral palsy and others.
