Engineering for Kids Announces Partnership with Primavera Blending Learning Center, Open House April 19th

State of the Art facility to offer unique engineering classes for boys and girls ages 4-14 starting June 2nd

Ahwatukee-based East Valley Engineering for Kids, a Stem enrichment provider for kids 4-14, has announced an exclusive partnership with the Primavera Blending Learning Center located at 2451 North Arizona Avenue in Chandler. The new facility will be hosting Engineering for Kids summer break camp programs that introduce children to the concepts of engineering beginning June 2nd. The camps are theme based and focus on a variety of engineering fields where students collaborate in teams to address real-life situations.

The public is invited to attend an Open House on Saturday, April 19th, from 11 am to 3 pm at Primavera. The special event will feature Lego Robotics and Video Game Design Demonstrations, a free Lego Robotics Workshop from 1-2 pm, a Rocket Building and Launching activity, snacks and refreshments. Tours of the 13K sq. ft. facility will be available. For more information or to RSVP call (480) 779-8184 or email [email protected].

According to Engineering for Kids Director, Ron Hoagland, "We are excited to partner with Primavera at their beautiful, State of the Art Blended Learning Center. We share a common goal of providing real world, hands-on learning activities to children that will spark a passion for engineering, math and science." The summer break camps will be offered Monday - Friday beginning June 2nd. Half and full-day classes will be offered at the Primavera Center with prices starting at $150 per week with early bird discounts available. Courses include Video Game, Robotics and Lego Design and are geared towards introducing children to the basic concepts of engineering.

Engineering for Kids was founded in 2009 by educator Dori Roberts who saw a dire need to introduce the concepts of math, science and engineering to children. They now have programs in 26 states and 4 countries. The East Valley branch was introduced to the community in July of 2013 and classes have been held at the Pecos Community center since January of this year. Approximately 150 children have attended the classes so far which are led by State Certified Teachers.

Hoagland says, "Unfortunately, Arizona has some of the lowest Math and Science scores in the country. These classes introduce kids to critical thinking skills, teamwork and creativity. All of our programs meet National Education Standards for STEM Education."

He adds, "Kids are natural engineers and have a great curiosity about how things work. Our goal is to introduce concepts to children that will spark a passion for engineering, math and science. We want our programs to make kids enthusiastic about these subjects and really enjoy themselves. Learning can be fun."
