Englander Mattress Corners Niche For Overweight Sleepers

The Posture Support Plus by Englander Mattresses takes direct aim at the growing need for sleep products built especially for an overweight population, according to qMattresses.com.

According to information published by qMattresses.com, a mattress ratings and reviews website, the Posture Support Plus by Englander is among one of the highest quality, best mattresses for heavy people.

While the number of states where more than 25% of the population was considered obese more than tripled since 2004, qMattresses.com observes that very few mattress companies have shifted their manufacturing focus to accommodate this high growth market. Instead, the mattress website highlights the progressively poorer quality materials used by most mattress manufacturers to save on costs and increase margins.

"Is it a coincidence that more and more mattresses show premature sagging in a period where material quality is deteriorating and body weight is increasing?" Christopher Fitch, Site Editor, asked in a written statement. "There is an inverse relationship here (between material quality and average body weight). And the Posture Plus mattress challenges that relationship by building a solid product that is engineered and marketed specifically with heavy individuals in mind. This is a tremendous step forward that I believe gives Englander Mattresses a huge advantage."

Given the tremendous rise in obesity it would make sense for manufacturers to cater to this specific market segment or to use higher quality materials in their product, qMattresses.com suggests. Without better materials, the complaints and overall, general dissatisfaction with the mattress manufacturing community will worsen.

"You can see that the biggest complaints of mattress owners are related to one or two specific areas," Fitch pointed out. "The first is warranty, which stipulates a wide margin of defect that completely favors the mattress manufacturer. The other has more to do with the quality of the mattress itself."

More specifically, information published by the website highlights premature sagging as one of the most-often cited non-warranty complaints that dissatisfied mattress owners will list. With warranties allowing 1.5" to 2" of sagging before the manufacturer will honor a warranty claim (on a spring mattress), the website applauds Englander's efforts with the Posture Support Plus product.

"This is not a new mattress," Fitch admits. "But now we can no longer blame user weight as being the root cause for sagging. Our mattress ratings, which are driven entirely by owner feedback and comments, ranks Englander among the top 3 spring mattress makers. We are doubtful that this product will fail its owners."

Built with overweight users in mind, the Englander Posture Support Plus is a coil-on-coil mattress with latex and memory foam comfort layers. "Without question, this has got to be the best mattress for heavy people," Fitch states.

The core of the mattress relies on a stronger gauge coil to resist the added weight over the longer and uses more resilient latex and memory foam to provide heavier users with a comfortable and supportive sleep experience. According to qMattresses, buyers can expect this segment of market to open up.

"With obesity on the rise, our demographic demands a higher quality product," Fitch said. "Our message to mattress makers is this: if you can't fix the problem, fix the product."
