Enjoy a Taste of La Dolce Vita at Mille Fleurs

MIlle Fleurs invites guests to experience the Mediterranean flavors of Italy with a light and affordable Bistro menu

Mille Fleurs invites you to take a culinary journey along the Italian coast this summer.

"After a recent trip to the Amalfi coast and Campania, visiting the lovely towns of Amalfi, Positano, Ravello and Capri, I fell in love with the local exuberant cuisine," said Bertrand Hug. "The areas feature sun-kissed vegetables, fresh local Mozzarellas, dried pasta, Amalfi lemons and fresh herbs, squid and cuttle fish recipes, as well as delicious mussels and clams."

According to Hug, all the dishes were light and fun. The incredibly delicious San Marzano tomatoes were unbelievably sweet and were included in almost every recipe.

San Diego has almost the same culinary resources that are found in Italy and Hug recognized that he had tasted similarly delicious tomatoes from our local farmers, especially from Chino Farms.

Continued Hug, "Chef Martin only uses the freshest local products. So the whole time, I couldn't stop thinking: Why can we not produce the same dishes at Mille Fleurs? Some may say that Mille Fleurs is not an Italian restaurant, but consider that throughout Europe, people have been delighting in 'Mediterranean' dishes since the Renaissance."

Chef Martin is trained in many culinary styles and will be offering an Italian menu for a limited time in addition to the classic Mille Fleurs offerings you know and love. The Italian menu will be comprised of five appetizers and six main courses, each light, fresh and ideal for summer.

Here's a sampling of some of the dishes with Chef Martin's signature twist: Prosciutto & Melon with San Daniele Prosciutto and Wild Arugula Salad; Carpaccio with Olives, Grape Tomatoes, Mustard Aioli and Crostini; Eggplant Ivoltini with Fire Roasted Red Peppers, Anchovies and Piccolo Basil; Saltimbocca Alla Romana, Parma Prosciutto, Sage and Spinach; Ravioli with Beef Ribs, Black Pepper, Balsamic Glazed Onion and Broccolini; and Porcini with Risotto, Truffle Oil, Radicchio, Asiago and Green Herbs. Bertrand also handpicked a selection of very reasonable Italian wines to pair with the dishes.

The Italian menu will be served nightly now throughout the summer. Starters are priced from $14 and entrees from $22. Reservations are highly recommended. Call 858-756-3085 or visit www.millefleurs.com.
