Enjoy Life Foods Hosts Kid CEO For A Day
Online, March 20, 2012 (Newswire.com) - It's not too often an eight-year-old helms the head of a multimillion dollar company, but tomorrow, that's just what Jacob Kaiser (along with mom Wendy) will do. As the Grand Prize Winner for national fundraiser Food Allergy Walk, Jacob has won an all-expenses paid trip to Enjoy Life Foods headquarters in Chicago and an opportunity to become CEO for the day. The Grand Prize Winner was randomly chosen from among the teams that raised the most funds in each of their respective Walk locations for the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN), a nonprofit organization and resource for people dealing with food allergies.
This past year Enjoy Life Foods was a Gold Level Sponsor for FAAN, with a presence at each of the Walks. The winner was chosen a few months ago and will be arriving for his visit on Tuesday, March 20. During the day Jacob will get a tour of the facility and preside over a series of meetings in his role as CEO for the day.
"I'm excited to turn reins over to Jacob for the day and show him the ropes of running Enjoy Life Foods," said Scott Mandell, Founder and CEO. "Sponsoring the FAAN Walk is a cause close to my heart, and I'm happy to award all the hard work and fundraising done by Jacob's team this year."
The Food Allergy Walks take place in every state of the country throughout the year to raise awareness and funds. With millions of Americans managing food allergies and more children being diagnosed every day, funding food allergy awareness, advocacy, education, and research programs is an essential element of the FAAN foundation.
Founded in 1991, the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) is the world leader in information, resources, and programs for food allergy, a potentially life-threatening medical condition that afflicts as many as 15 million Americans, including approximately 6 million children. A nonprofit organization based in Fairfax, Va., FAAN has approximately 25,000 members in the U.S., Canada, and 58 other countries. FAAN provides information and educational resources about food allergy to patients, their families, schools, health professionals, pharmaceutical companies, the food industry, and government officials. Enjoy Life Foods began as a class assignment; Company founder Scott Mandell wrote the company's business plan during his MBA program at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. In 2001, Scott traded in his banker's suit for an apron, and Enjoy Life Foods was born. He began with the mission to create great-tasting, allergy-friendly snacks, and today the product line has grown to 40 different foods including cookies, granola, cereal, snack bars, seed and fruit mixes, chocolate bars, baking chocolate, and healthy lentil-based chips, all of which are sold in natural food, conventional grocery stores, and mass retailers throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as specialty online retailers. In January 2006, the company was the first to receive independent gluten-free certification for all of its products from the Gluten Free Certification Organization (GFCO).
