The co writers of both the books are Philip Gordon Wylie & Edwin Balmer. It was first featured partly in a six months serial in the magazine, Blue book. It was shorter as well as less worked upon the the original one. The story of this novel has been woven around the progress of a survivor in the New World which they enter, Bronson beta. They enter this world after the earth has been destroyed.
In this Wizard's tale, Paige, the sister of Penryn, is captured by some people as they think that she is a monster. It all ends in a huge massacre. The sudden disappearance of Paige terrifies the humans and leaves her mother heartbroken.
Penryn searches for Paige, through streets of San Francisco. He is surprised to see the streets deserted and does not find anybody. He is led to the hearts of angels while his search. Penryn comes to know about their motivation and also learns about the extent the angels are capable of going, which is very horrifying.
Meanwhile Rafe is searching his wings. But without them it is not possible for him to join the angels.
In the middle of 1950, George Pal played around with the concept of developing the sequel to the movie When Worlds Collide. But the failure of the movie Conquest of space on Box office gave a set back to his Career.
But this novel has been written dramatically well. People really appreciated the writing style and also the fiction inculcated. It also won the critics accolade and won a couple of awards. The concept was followed by various writers thereafter but no one could really give it an interesting script.
