Eon Clinics Hosts Free Seminars To Educate Public About Benefits Of Dental Implants
Online, June 14, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Over 100 million Americans are missing one or more teeth. Eon Clinics, Chicago's premier dental implant center is committed to educating people in the Chicago metropolitan area about dental implants and how they can improve their health, self-confidence and quality of life. Each month, the doctors from Eon Clinics host free dental implant seminars for people who wish to learn more about the problems associated with tooth loss, various methods for replacing teeth and the rational and advantages of using dental implants.
During the seminar, attendees learn the various causes for tooth loss. Some of the most common reasons include trauma, caries or dental decay, periodontal disease, lack of care due to fear of dentist or poor genetics. They doctors also discuss the most common reasons for replacing missing teeth. Some people are embarrassed of their smile and replace missing teeth for cosmetic reasons. Many people don't realize that missing teeth actually cause the jaw bone to shrink, resulting in structural changes in the face. The doctors explain that when you replace a missing tooth with a dental implant, the dental implant provides stimulation to the supporting bone and prevents bone loss. People also choose to replace missing teeth for functional reasons. Without teeth, chewing becomes very difficult and leads to digestive and other health issues. In addition, missing teeth can cause problems with diction, or speech. Without teeth, it is difficult to make certain sounds.
During the seminar, the doctors describe the various methods for replacing missing teeth. These include tooth-supported removable prosthetic devices (dentures) and tooth supported fixed prosthetic devices (bridges). While both of these methods offer temporary solutions for missing teeth, they have advantages and disadvantages. Dentures can be painful, compromise chewing capacity and due to a shrinking jaw bone, must constantly be refitted. Fixed prosthetic devices, often compromise the health of adjacent teeth, and due to cement fatigue can come loose and need to be repaired several times throughout the course of a lifetime. In comparison, dental implants are 98% successful and if cared for properly, can last a lifetime.
The doctors explain that dental implants are medical grade titanium anchors that are placed into bone to replace the roots of missing teeth. The titanium "roots" provide a secure base for the support of prosthetic crowns or bridges to replace missing teeth. At Eon Clinics, the doctors explain that they can replace one, several or all of the teeth using dental implants. Their signature procedure is called the All-on-4, and is a technique which allows them to do a full mouth restoration in just one day.
During the seminar, the doctors explain the factors they consider when evaluating whether or not a patient is a candidate for dental implants. During the initial consultation, the doctors take a medical history paying specific attention to issues such as diabetes, periodontitis, smoking and osteoporosis. Next they take a 3D CT scan so they can evaluate the condition of the jaw bone. This allows them to determine if a patient has enough bone to place dental implants or if bone grafting will be necessary.
The doctors continue the seminar with a series of case studies. These case studies focus on patients who have had full mouth restorations using the All-on-4 technique. The first patient is a woman, who was told by other doctors that in order to receive dental implants, she would need three surgeries, including a bone graft taken from her hip and that the whole process would take eighteen months.
Upon visiting Eon Clinics, this patient learned that she was a candidate for the All-on-4. She came in wearing a denture on her upper teeth, and had a failing bridge on her lower jaw. She had bone loss and suffered from periodontal disease. In one day, the doctors at Eon Clinics were able to replace all of her teeth using the All-on-4 protocol without any bone grafting.
The doctors introduced another patient who was suffering with several missing teeth. He was told by other doctors that to receive dental implants, he would be in treatment for two years. He would need a sinus lift, six to eight surgeries and seventeen implants. The doctors at Eon Clinics were able to use the All-on-4 protocol and complete his treatment in just one day. He arrived in the morning with missing teeth and left in the afternoon with a brand new, beautiful smile.
During the seminar, the doctors explain that the reason Eon Clinics is unique and is able to offer these types of predictable results for their patients is that they have an "All-in-One" center. They have an oral surgeon, prosthodontist, 3D CT scan and dental lab all under one roof. This allows the doctors to collaborate on each case more efficiently and provides convenience for the patient who no longer has to travel to multiple locations to see all the different specialists involved in a dental implant case.
After the presentation is complete, the doctors take time to answer questions. If attendees are interested in learning more, they are encouraged to sign up for a complimentary consultation at one of Eon Clinics multiple locations. This free evaluation includes the CT scan, which is normally valued at $750.
