The conference served as the official launch of the celebration of ePayResources’ 50th anniversary.
Tim Thorson, AAP, CTP, Senior Vice President, Payments Risk, Regions Bank, was presented the Richard R. Oliver Leadership in Payments Award for his exemplary leadership in the advancement, implementation, and promotion of electronic payments. The recipient is a payments ambassador whose work has contributed to the efficiency, security, and growth of the industry.
Tim’s impact on the payments industry is exemplified by his long-time leadership and service on multiple Payments Association boards, including ePayResources and its predecessor EastPay, and multiple terms chairing Nacha’s Rules and Operations committee, its Risk Management Advisory Group, and the AAP Blue Ribbon Panel. A champion of risk management, Tim is known as a patient mentor whose engaging and understandable approach has helped Payments Associations craft innovations that benefit their member financial institutions.
“I am honored to receive this award, named for someone who was a role model for me and many of my peers throughout my career,” said Thorson. “I have truly enjoyed the opportunities presented by ePayResources and other industry stakeholders to work together in support of the growth and safety of electronic payments.”
The Innovation in Payments Award was presented to Booshan Rengachari, Founder and CEO of Finzly, a Charlotte, North Carolina-based financial technology company specializing in payments and banking solutions for financial institutions. This award honors an individual, team, or organization that has demonstrated significant achievement in developing or implementing innovative payments solutions or technologies that facilitate industry adoption of emerging payments solutions, including RTP® and FedNow®. The recipient is a payments influencer who has broken ground inside or outside their organization to propel industry advancement.
Booshan founded Finzly in 2012 with a vision of empowering financial institutions with a modern, core-independent alternative to help them stay competitive and relevant in the fintech-driven world of international banking and payments. Booshan serves on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Faster Payments Council, where he advocates for the implementation of secure and faster payment capabilities.
“I am very grateful for this recognition from ePayResources,” said Rengachari. “Finzly has grown from a humble beginning, and I am proud of the positive impact we have had on enabling innovation in the payments industry.”
Tim Quisenberry, AAP, President, ePayAdvisors, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Tim has over 28 years of experience in the payments industry and joined ePayResources, then SWACHA, in 2006.
