Online, March 14, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Erin Lale's book Asatru For Beginners was published in its first print edition in 2010. It was available only as an ebook since 2002.

Asatru was the religion of the Vikings. Asatru For Beginners covers its history, mythology, world view, and ritual practices.

Asatru For Beginners is a short, easy to read introduction to the heathen religion. It is suitable for a comparative religion class, but is not aimed at the academic market. Simple, straightforward, and free of footnotes, the book makes use of lists and opens with a Frequently Asked Questions section for easy use.

Lale is a respected religious scholar who has been asked to review an academic journal on her blog Lale's Magical Thinking Emporium, and was recently consulted by an anthropologist about the orthography on the inscription on a 10th century sword found in Russia. Her previous works of religious scholarship include the academic paper Paganism Among the Early Slavs.

Lale kicks off her book tour May 22, 2010 with a booksigning at 4MysticMinds Bookstore in her home town of Henderson, Nevada. She will give her popular lecture on Asatru, which she last gave as a guest sermon at the Unitarian Universalist Church in North Las Vegas last fall.
