Erin Lale's Latest Book Capitalizes On 50 Shades Phenomenon

Online, June 11, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Erin Lale's new book, just published this weekend, is aimed at writers and is called How To Turn Your Fan Fiction Into a Novel. Many authors of fan fiction have been energized by the success of 50 Shades of Gray, which began as Twilight fan fiction. Lale says, "Now it's OK to admit that the Punch series started as fan fiction, too. The success of 50 Shades has made fan fiction legitimate."

Lale is the author of 17 books, including the 7 books of the Punch series. In her latest nonfiction book, she outlines her process for how she converted the Punch series from its fan fiction first draft into one of the books of her original Time Yarns universe. The bulk of the slender guide is about world-building.

Lale is also the Acquisitions Editor at Eternal Press and Damnation Books, in addition to Editor and Publisher of the Time Yarns shared world. She says, "When I get a book submitted to me there which is about 95% there, sometimes I'll help the author find the direction to go to get the book the rest of the way to publishable. A couple of times I've gotten books in my submissions inbox that had obvious fan fiction elements in them, clearly left over from the origin of the book as fan fiction before the author converted it for publication, and I've helped them finish converting it. A couple of those books are now in the publication schedule. I've also discovered writers on fanfiction.net and invited them to submit an original novel, and a couple of those are in the publication schedule too.
