Inside Sports: News You Can Almost Trust

DALLAS----MARCH 3, 2010 One of the most popular shows on television today is The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, a show that takes the underhanded world of politics and all the news that surrounds it, and reports it to its viewers with a no-holds barred, bi-partisan comic spin that makes even the most conservative viewer crumble over with laughter. Well, the time has now come for a show that takes the world of sports and all the news that surrounds it, rips the cover off the ball and gives the sporting news world an over the top, comedic spin that has never been seen before in this massive demographic base of the United States. When you think of "Inside Sports: News You Can Almost Trust", the best way to describe it will be "ESPN meets The Daily Show".

Produced by Mark McClure and co-produced and hosted by Joumana Kidd, the once a week, 30 minute Inside Sports: News You Can Almost Trust show will be a culmination of ESPN meets The Daily Show. Any and all relevant news from the world of sports will be open game for the shows ridicule and parody and almost no topic will be considered out of bounds. From Tiger Woods affairs to Olympic skater Johnny Wier, baseball's steroid issues, NBA lock-out, Brett Favre and everything in between. Pushing the envelope on crass, obnoxious and down-right rude news spin will be encouraged. This will not be your grandfathers Late Night with Johnny Carson or even some tame SNL skit; boundaries and creative comedy will be pushed to its limit all in the name of becoming TV's most popular "fake sports news show" and the ultimate goal of being rewarded with an Emmy or two. But more than "news", you can expect a weekly staple of skits that will become the foundation of Inside Sports much like Letterman's Top 10, Letterman's Stupid Animal Tricks, Leno's Jaywalking, and all the rest. Inside Sports is going to give sports fans everywhere (and even those that just love comedy) a reason to tune into the show week in and week out, and based on the originality and great writing they will bring to the table, they are confident this will be a show with legs for years and years to come.

McClure and his team, which include Executive Producer John Meindl and writers from such hit shows as SNL, The Late Show, Letterman, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, MTV and VH1, are currently in
pre-production of the initial three pilots and plan on having all three "in the can" and ready for airing and distribution no later than May 10th. Several networks have agreed to test the pilots, and McClure will make an announcement end of April on the date, time and channel of the initial launch.
