Evan Guthrie Law Firm Is Attorney For Sedgefield Middle Career Day in Goose Creek, SC

Online, August 11, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina was the lawyer for career day at Sedgefield Middle School in Goose Creek, SC on Wednesday March 27th 2013. While many professions were represented at the career event, attorney Guthrie represented the legal profession. Mr. Guthrie spoke to several groups of eighth grade students at the middle school as part of the event. Sedgefield Middle School is in the Berkeley County school system and this was the first time that Mr. Guthrie visited the school. Attorney Guthrie was led to one class room and the students rotated in sessions to different careers. Each session lasted about thirty minutes and there were around four sessions in total. Mr. Guthrie explained all about legal careers as part of the event. Attorney Guthrie covered aspects such as how to become a lawyer, how much school is needed, what subjects to take in school to get prepared, what the students could do in high school and college to get ready for a law career, what the law school entrance exam is like, what law school is like in general, what is on the bar exam, the typical day for a lawyer, how lawyers get compensated, the best and not so best parts of the legal profession, the professional and ethical standards for lawyers, and the biggest challenges there are in being an attorney.

Mr. Guthrie also took time to answer questions from students that included how many ties do you own, when did you decide you wanted to be a lawyer, how many hours does a lawyer work in a week, and what to do if a client does not tell the truth. Attorney Guthrie got many quality questions from the different groups of students and answered them all. Mr. Guthrie was joined at the event by his law clerk, Kimaya Brown, then a senior at Charleston Southern University who addressed questions about life as a pre law college student. Attorney Guthrie enjoyed the career day event at Sedgefield and the opportunity to tell middle school students about his career and represent the legal profession. Mr. Guthrie looked forward to being able to return to the school in the future to speak to students again.
