Evan Guthrie Law Firm Is Scoring Judge For Middle School Mock Trial Competition In North Charleston, SC

Online, May 19, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Attorney Evan Guthrie of the Evan Guthrie Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina judged the South Carolina Bar Middle School Mock Trial Competition in North Charleston, SC on Saturday November 9th 2014. The contest was the Lowcountry Regional of the statewide competition of middle school students sponsored by the Law Related Education of the South Carolina Bar.

Teams representing Charleston, SC middle schools such as Buist Academy, Marrington Middle School, and many others competed against each other in full trials including opening statements, three witnesses for each team including cross and direct, and a closing statement. The trials lasted about an hour in duration each and each team got a chance to compete in three trials each on the same day. The presiding judges and scoring judges were practicing attorneys and judges that were able to score and assess all of the teams to see who would be the two teams to move on to the state finals.

This was the first time that Attorney Evan Guthrie judged the Middle School Mock Trial Competition after previously judging a High School Regional Competition in the same location. Mr. Guthrie enjoyed being able to watch middle school students dress up and argue as lawyers in a competitive setting against other schools. Attorney Guthrie looks forward to being able to come back and judge future contests.
