"An Evening with David Feherty" to be Held April 12th in Addison

(Addison, Texas) - CBS Sports Analyst and former PGA Pro David Feherty and the Troops First Foundation will be recognized with the 2011 Double T Public Service Excellence Award during an event hosted by the Dallas-area Texas Tech alumni on April 12 at the Town of Addison Conference and Theatre Center.

"Thousands of graduates of Texas Tech University's College of Mass Communications make their homes and careers in Dallas-Fort Worth. They work as communications leaders for Fortune 500 companies, inform and entertain through various broadcast outlets and lead multi-million dollar advertising campaigns influencing buying around the world," said Dr. Jerry Hudson, Dean of the Texas Tech University College of Mass Communications. "These hard-charging graduates put the same level of energy in to giving back to their alma mater."

This year is the fifth year for this recognition event. At previous ceremonies, recipients of the Double T Award have been WFAA-TV's "Wednesday's Child;" The Dallas Morning News Charities; Dallas Junior League; the Texas Department of Transportation's "Don't Mess With Texas" campaign; and the Foundation for a Better Life.

David Feherty is known for his sharp wit and humorous anecdotes, putting life in perspective through his tales from the golf greens. In keeping with that theme, sponsor and silent auction items will include golf packages at some of the region's best courses, and Byron Nelson tournament privileges. In addition, Troops First Foundation will be the recipient of this year's Double T Service Award for the services they provide to wounded warriors. Mr. Feherty is a board member of Troops First Foundation.

"My work with Troops First came about like so much else in my life," says David Feherty. "It was the result of embracing every opportunity that came my way and truly maximizing the experience. I look forward to sharing some of those tales with my Red Raider Friends!"

"We are so honored to have David Feherty as our keynote speaker for the 2011 Dallas Mass Communications Alumni Scholarship Fundraiser and to share his unique humor and stories with our alumni and supporters." said Dr. Jerry Hudson, Dean of the College of Mass Communications. "In addition, we look forward to presenting Mr. Feherty with the Double T Award for Public Service for the support Troops First has provided to those wounded in recent wars."

The College of Mass Communications awards event will be held Tuesday, April 12th from 5:30 - 8:00 PM at the Addison Town Conference and Theatre Centre (15650 Addison Road, Addison, TX 75001).
