Ex-pro Ballerina Now Dance Features Writer For BAY STAGES Magazine
Online, February 7, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Ex-pro ballerina Grier Cooper has become a regular contributing writer to BAY STAGES Magazine in San Francisco. Her stories for the magazine's February issue cover Jess Curtis/Gravity's Dances For Non-Fictional Bodies, Ex-Machina's Eonnagata, and Robert Moses' Kin's Fable and Faith. These features include exclusive quotes drawn from personal interviews with both dancers and choreographers.
"It's a very exciting time in the dance world," Cooper says, "choreographers are taking more chances, exploring uncharted territories and rewriting the rules. Dancers of today are really top-level athletes, so there's much to work with to create ground-breaking dance that transcends previous limitations."
Cooper danced internationally with ballet companies including San Francisco Ballet and Miami City Ballet before becoming a writer. Her experience as a dancer gives her a unique perspective and ability to write about defining moments of dance. This is her second issue writing for BAY STAGES. Her short stories are also appearing in the February issues of Skipping Stones and Literature 4 Kids.
