Facebook Acquires Early Clues, LLC From Under Google

Facebook, Inc (FB) rescues struggling startup Early Clues, LLC with a last minute offer after acquisition deal with Google goes sour.

Facebook today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Early Clues, LLC, in a bizarre tit-for-tat game against its arch-rival Google, Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Early Clues was the subject of much controversy recently when its Google acquisition went sour, and the company was forced to seek $3 billion in crowdfunding to buy back its assets from Google.

Upon hearing of the plight of Early Clues, Mark Zuckerberg himself phoned the company to become their ‘saving angel.’ Zuckerberg explains, “I watched their video with the telepresence robot and was moved to tears. I decided we as a society couldn’t let this happen. And I knew I was in a position to be the one to do something about it. We can't let big business win every time.”

Early Clues is the leader in an undisclosed field of technology that has already built strong interest among developers, having received more than 75,000 orders for development kits. While the applications are in their nascent stages, several industries are already experimenting with the technology, and Facebook plans to extend Early Clues’ existing advantage to new verticals, including communications, media and entertainment, education and other areas. Given these broad potential applications, the for-now “stealth” technology Early Clues is developing is a strong candidate to emerge as the next social and communications platform.

“We are excited to work with Mark and the Facebook team to deliver the very best,” said Burt Hitchens, spokesperson for Early Clues. “We believe reality will be heavily defined by technology, and it’s only just the beginning.”

Early Clues will maintain its headquarters in the Tri-Cities, and will continue development of the its ground-breaking new platform.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.
