Fair Association Nominates FaceDancers for Best in Show Once Again
As the 2015 Fair season opened last week with the South Florida Fair, an amusement company called FaceDancers is taking center stage with their products.
Miami, FL, January 22, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The International Independent Showmen's Association is the Industry Association for all Fairs and Carnivals around the world and has for the second year, nominated FaceDancers, whose products are taking over as the defacto standard in visual attractions.
On the heals of the IISA's annual Super Trade Show, the South Florida Fair kicks off the 2015 Fair season once again, and its interesting to see exactly what they mean by the "defacto standard" after walking through one of the state's oldest, largest and well attended fairs.
Always looking to find something new to write about, I walked around the fair and the first thing I noticed (other than the beautiful Las Vegas exhibit in the main hall) is the reduction of rides over the years as well as the same ole vendors with the same ole products. The Fair, now in its 103rd year, has changed much over the years, but not so much in the past 10 years. The same vendors attend with the same unchanged products. Quite boring, that is, until you come accross one of the FaceDancer exhibits in the Wade Show section.
While FaceDancer's products have been frequenting the fair circuit for a few years now, probably the biggest reason for their massive audience is because they are one of the only fair vendors with innovation. Each year they seem to add to their repertoire, and each year they are rewarded with plenty of enthusiastic customers eager to wait their turn.
This year, the company featured 3 exhibits located at different spots in the fair including their Bopping Head videos, an instant Face Dancer creation kiosk, as well as their latest hit, FX Movie Creator, which may be as popular as their dancing green screen videos. Here customers get to play out a part in a Disaster Movie with special effects. It's great fun as a Director instructs you on what to do, and they put it all together with a great video vignette in under 2 minutes. All three of their exhibits are so different from anything you've seen in the past 10 years and are well worth the wait.
Other Fair attractions this year include a new family ride called Beach Shack as well as the Frenzy, a pendulum-style ride with an 80-foot swing that lets you experience the feel of G-forces. Of course there is the usual fried food as well as a heart attack waiting to happen! This year the fair is offering up the Philly Cheese Steak Donut Burger! Get me to the ER before it's too late!
More impersonators, the usual shriners parade, marching bands, baton twirlers and lots of music help fill the fair as they do every year. I guess its much akin to the movie Ground Hog Day with Bill Murray where the days repeat themselves. The fair needs more innovators and less of the usual suspects. Hats off to Face Dancers and companies like them for providing us with some variety to an otherwise stale venue. Don't get me wrong, the Fair is still the Fair, and the hottest ticket in town! Its great to visit and in the case of the South Florida Fair, one of the nicest fairs around.
