Famous Organic Paleo Hotspot, GustOrganics Says "Bye-Bye" To Meat and Dairy
In response to environmental, health, and ethical news breaching the media on a daily basis, GustOrganics has taken the plunge in order to remove all animal products from their business in hopes that others will follow.
New York, NY 10011, December 3, 2014 (Newswire.com) - GustOrganics is the only certified organic restaurant on the East Coast that comes complete with a 100% Organic Bar. Founder, Alberto Gonzalez, dreamed of setting the transparent standard precedence for all eateries seven years ago and that transparency still exist today with their many certifications from reputable groups like, The Green Restaurant Association, The Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA), The USDA, and The Verified Green Business. Despite staying true to its organic mission, the GustOrganics menu has been a major game changer in the business’ identity in recent months. On a menu that used to be covered in words like, “Free-Range Chicken” and “Grass-Fed Beef” you will now find words like “Tofu”, “Tempeh” and “Seitan”. On November 3, 2014 GustOrganics broke the news to its many paleo followers that animal products would begin disappearing from the menu and such has been the case ever since. At the moment there are fifty-one vegan dishes and only three meat dishes remaining on the famous menu. Many would wonder why such a popular and distinct restaurant would take such a huge business risk, but for the GustOrganics management team, removing animal products was the most obvious thing to do in order to be as “Green” as they claimed to be.
When asked why they are making such a radical shift, Paul Chang of GustOrganics management replied, “GustOrganics has a well deserved reputation for creating the mold for conscious restaurants of the future. We did it seven years ago when no one was into Organics and now we are doing it again with plant-based dishes. The worse thing a conscious business can do is stop learning. Like most individuals that leave animal products behind, we too are doing it simply because we learned that even organic farming takes quite a toll on the environment.”
Many of GustOrganics dedicated patrons have resisted this bold move but Chang says, “We are a Green restaurant and we owe our allegiance to that which is most Green first and foremost. Just because we are removing meat doesn’t mean we are removing delicious food. We are still going to be serving delicious food. Change is hard for anyone—but this is a really great move that we are looking forward to and we hope people continue to support us.”
According to Yelp, Twitter, and Facebook activity, many are very excited about the new plant-based hub. There are even some people who say GustOrganics is about to do better than ever because the ever-growing group of vegans/vegetarians in NYC now sees GustOrganics as one of “their” places. During their Nov 3rd Vegan Launch Party, more than 70 attendees came to show their support for the 180-degree shift in menu. Famous companies like, Bad Ass Vegan, Clean Plates, and Genesis Greens sponsored the event. GustOrganics is even beginning to organize a Vegan Drinks event on the first Monday of every month which will be coming together in the weeks to come. GustOrganics wants to dive head first into their new plant-based identity in hopes that others will take their lead. They have cut their carbon footprint by more than half with this decision and are even saving money because all of their ingredients are totally and completely local, whereas before, they needed to go all the way to Ireland to find Certified Organic salmon and to Minnesota for their Grass-fed cow.
For many, it seems like GustOrganics is getting a new wave to their new beginning. For more information on GustOrganics and please visit http://www.gustorganics.com, email [email protected], or call Kiki @ 609-389-3893.
