Fasbu Poised to Become the next Big Thing in the Us Freight Forwarding Market
Can't ship it, FASBU it! Ship from any American store to your door.
Honolulu, HI, January 7, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Ex-pat Australians Haydn O'Meagher and Matt Canham started FASBU in 2014, with high hopes to become more than a simple freight forwarding service.
"To me, it's a very simple concept," Canham says. "A person orders something in the US and the service is to forward it the same day it is received.
"We will create relationships directly with manufacturers here to ensure our customers get the best deal possible."
Matt Canham, Co-Founder
Canham and O'Meagher who have both lived and worked in the US on and off since 2002 and are familiar with sea freight and LCL (less than container load) shipments, started the company after reading internet forums about customer dis-satisfaction about freight forwarding from the US.
"There is strong demand for this type of service," O'Meagher says. "We predict a steady rise to 1000 customers by the end of the first quarter of 2015, then a fast expansion once we expand our warehouses."
FASBU has also started an international shipping service.
"We've shipped items to Taiwan, Lebanon, Japan, the UK, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia among others," Canham says. "We're happy to ship any item, anywhere, with the obvious exception of anything illegal, hazardous or on a banned list of items for that country.
"We are also developing an app with our own tracking system, so the buyer can easily see the progress of their package."
FASBU charges 'the usual rates' of a $10 fee up to $300 in value, and 5 per cent of the total order value over that.
And Canham doesn't expect any drop off in business despite the Australia dollar being at a four-year low.
"Given that many things in Australia are double the price of what they are [in the US], I don't think there will be much effect at all," he says. "With the Australia dollar at about US$0.80, things may be 20 per cent more expensive, but that still represents a 30 per cent saving on the Australian price. We will create relationships directly with manufacturers here to ensure our customers get the best deal possible."
