Fashion Bug Bags Bronze at People Development Awards 2013

Fashion Bug, one of Sri Lanka's leading retail clothing stores with over 17 outlets island-wide served by its 1200+ employees, walked away with a bronze at the recent People Development Awards hosted by the SLITAD.

Organized for the first time of its nature, the awards ceremony was held on 22nd November at Waters Edge, enjoying the participation of many business leaders in recognizing and celebrating their successes to people development.

The chief guest was Mr. Donglin Li, Country Director -International Labour Organization, Sri Lanka & Maldives, accompanied by Mr. Eastman Narangoda, President SLITAD, and Mr. Ajith Bopitiya, Chairman Organizing Committee -SLITAD People Award 2013 among various other practitioners in the field.

The awards ceremony kicked off with the CEO forum and eminent business personalities including Mr. Chandra Shafter- Deputy Chairperson of Janashakthi Insuarance PLC, Mr. Ashoka Peiris-CEO of Singer Sri Lanka, Mr. K R Raveendran -CEO/MD of Printcare Group and Mr. R Rajgopalan -CEO/MD of CEAT Kelani Holdings participated for the forum.

LOLC, Janashakthi Insurance PLC, Union Assurance, Seylan Bank, Printcare, Access Engineering, Singer Sri Lanka, CDB, Kelani Cables & CEAT were among the award winners.

The SLITAD People Development Award implements an assessment process consisting of 10 strategic areas where a team of experienced assessors from University of Colombo review each applicant thoroughly to assure that the organization has a good peoples practice.

This included business strategy, learning and development strategy, people management strategy, leadership and management strategy, management effectiveness, recognition and rewards, involvement and empowerment, learning and development, performance measurement, continuous improvement.

Established during 1998 to satisfy the long-felt, fundamental yet unfulfilled needs, of the community of human resources development practitioners of the country, SLITAD is a non-profit organization aimed at spreading the HRD movement in Sri Lanka. The institute is managed by a national Council with the president at the apex level. The Institute is affiliated to the International Federation of the Training and Development Organization (IFTDO). The SLITAD has many individual members and institutional members.

Fashion Bug commenced its operations since 1994 as a partnership business with 4 partners and a staff population of just 15, and today it possesses over 17 stores throughout the country with a workforce of over 1200 employees, and stands among the leading clothing stores in Sri Lanka catering with the fashion motto of 'Changing life Styles'.
