Catherine Monson, CEO of FASTSIGNS International, Inc., will be speaking at Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson's 6th Annual Youth Summit and Diversity Dialogue event, taking place Monday, August 6, at the Southern Methodist University, in an effort to encourage and motivate area youth and develop their leadership skills.

The theme for the 6th Annual Youth Summit and Diversity Dialogue is, "Putting Your Signature on the Future." The summit audience is comprised of motivated area students between the ages of 13 and 17, who each applied for attendance. The day-long event will provide students with the opportunity to hear speakers and engage in workshops that help increase cultural self-awareness, encourage leadership in their community and provide motivation for their future.

"I was honored to be approached with the opportunity to speak at this youth summit and personally reach out to those who are on the path to being our future leaders," said Monson. "It's important for all of us to find ways to give back when we can. I look forward to sharing my experiences from my time as a young adult through today and how I worked to get where I am now-the lessons I learned along the way, that I wish I had known when I was their age. A passion of mine is to study successful people and learn from them. I will be sharing the five common characteristic of all successful people and how each of us can practice and develop these characteristics, leading to greater success in our lives, no matter what our goals are."

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson and Sarosha Hansraj, the 13-year old founder of Children Care for Children, will also be speaking. Projects and topics covered during the workshops include presentations from the Environment Protection Agency, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Dr. Emma Wood and the Bully-Suicide Project.
