FDM Group launches Student Brand Manager Initiative

In October 2010 International IT services provider, FDM Group, launches its Student Brand Manager Initiative to further enhance its brand awareness across UK universities.

FDM will recruit Student Brand Managers to act as the eyes and ears of the company on campus, in order to further enhance its brand awareness amongst the student population. The initiative will be piloted across Kingston University, the University of Brighton, and the University of Manchester and, if successful, FDM will open the initiative up to other universities across the UK.

With a unique insight into local student environments and an understanding of the latest student trends both on and off campus, FDM Student Brand Managers will work to drive traffic through the Academy website and ultimately increase the number of applicants and sign-ups for FDM. Major brands such as Accenture, IBM, Microsoft, Virgin, RBS and GRC all have Student Brand Managers on campus.

FDM has established strong relationships with over 115 UK universities, holding free seminars and presentations for students interested in pursuing a career in IT, or CV and Interview workshops for those looking to increase their employability status. FDM will be visiting 45 graduate fairs across the UK during October and November 2010.

Katie Llewellyn-Cripps, Employability Liaison at Kingston University says:
"FDM Group have recruited more Kingston graduates in 2010 than ever before, which reflects their commitment to supporting the Careers & Employability activity on campus. The Student Brand Manager Initiative is a great way for students to acquire commercial awareness, experience in taking on a position of responsibility and the chance to be involved with an extra-curricular activity. We work collaboratively to create and deliver initiatives to encourage students to develop their employability and awareness of the IT industry, which in turn, has led to strong career prospects for our students and graduates."

Sam Rhodes, Head of Careers at the University of Brighton comments:
'The University of Brighton encourages its students to engage with graduate employers throughout their time at university. The Student Brand Manager Initiative raises students' awareness of opportunities on how to do this. By working closely with an employer such as FDM students can gain an insight into the workings of a large organisation and improve their employability skills, whilst gaining valuable work experience'.

Pippa Susskind, Academy Events Consultant at FDM, says:
'We are looking for confident and self-motivated people that have a natural ability to think outside the box to market the FDM Academy Master Class Programme to their fellow students. In return FDM offers a competitive package, valuable work experience, training in our offices to enhance their skills and invites to all our employee events'.
