FEBC's Work Life Services Benefit Offers Resources on Elder Care

While baby boomers are no longer the biggest generation in the United States — that prize now goes to millennials — they still make up a huge portion of the population. And as they age, and live longer into old age, the need for elder care will continue to rise. Millions of adults already provide unpaid care to older Americans, and the demand for both unpaid and paid elder care services will likely only increase. Financial Education Benefits Center (FEBC), a membership benefits company, is offering a work life services benefit that provides resources on family-related issues including elder care.

“Anyone who cares or manages care for an aging relative knows that it can get stressful,” said Jennifer Martinez, manager at FEBC, “especially if you don’t have a network of support. We are offering this benefit to give family members more resources to help them manage the care of their loved ones.”

The work life services benefit is a counseling service which users call in to use. FEBC members who use this benefit can get advice on and assistance with coordinating care for their relative. There are also online resources with practical information regarding family care available to users of this benefit.

Having help coordinating care for elders may be more needed than ever. The United States is facing a caregiver shortage. With fewer caregivers available, finding a quality professional to care for a loved one may be more difficult, especially depending on the region. Users of this benefit can call the work life services line day or night to take advantage of the assistance this benefit offers.

“As we watch the people we love age, we know they might need more help,” said Martinez. “But that always isn’t easy. Having professionals on hand to give advice and help us coordinate care is often very needed. So we’re happy to offer this kind of benefit to FEBC members.”
