Fierce Comics Launches Journeyman Artist Program
Online, January 12, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Fierce Comics today announced the launch of its Journeyman Artist Program, which allows aspiring unpublished comic book artists the chance to bolster their portfolios by bartering services for the opportunity to be published through one of the company's titles. Application to the program is open to all unpublished pencilers, inkers, colorists, painters, and letters. All applicants must have their own computer equipment and Internet connection. Journeyman artists in the program will receive copies of the published issues and a letter of recommendation outlining their level of competency in key areas relating to their specific area of work.
Through the program, artists will gain valuable exposure both in the published books and on the company's web site. "While anyone can send in a submission, it's important to know where your work stands," said Rob Rhine, Fierce Comics' Director of Print Media. "The objective is to help high-quality work gain visibility. We will only move forward with a Journeyman approval on work that we feel meets the standards we've set as a publisher of high-quality comics."
"We're looking for the next big name industry talent," said Ben Filipiak, Fierce Comics' Publisher. "It's an extremely competitive space and up-and-comers in this industry need an edge like this to stand out and get noticed. We want to help the next superstar artists get their start in the industry." Only a select few will be accepted into the program each year, so the company recommends artists send their submission packages early. Additional information about the Fierce Comics Journeyman Artist program, including a downloadable submission form, can be found on the Journeyman page of the company's web site.
