Fierce Comics Launches Midwalker Campaign on Kickstarter

New Creative Funding Resource Enables Direct Fan Support for New Title

Fierce Comics today announced the launch of a Kickstarter.com campaign in support of its newest title, Midwalker. The campaign, the first of its kind for Fierce Comics, aims to secure funding for creative services needed to complete the 6-issue series, the first of which was the company's top selling book at the 2011 New York Comic Con.

"The best thing about Kickstarter.com is that it allows fans to provide direct support for creative works they like, while being rewarded with exclusive and unique products that aren't available in any other way," said Midwalker creator Ben Filipiak.

The book follows the experiences of Joshua Fischer after a serious head injury that almost cost him his life. Years after the injury, Fischer discovers he has the remarkable ability to cross partway into the ethereal realm whereby he is enveloped in, and can control, amazing energies. However, the euphoric feeling associated with being "crossed over" turns out to be far more addictive than he ever anticipated and also draws the unwanted attention of a battle-hungry underworld. It features the work of Mike Shoyket (Superman 80-Page Giant, Titans) and Scott Reed (Son of Hulk: Realm of Kings, Overman). Issue two will be released February 17th at the Orlando MegaCon and issue three is currently in production. The entire book will consist of six issues when it is completed.

This campaign will gauge the viability of Kickstarter as a fund raising service for our business," said Filipiak. "We have a professional and experienced team creating a high-quality book. We're hoping enough independent comics fans will see the value in what we're doing and help us reach our modest goal."
