Film Art Planet Starts Kickstarter Campaign to Produce "Forgiveness" Documentary
Online, July 10, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Film Art Planet is producing a documentary titled "Forgiveness," the first of a series of films from the non-profit organization, aiming to generate positive social change. Beginning on July 15, 2013, Film Art Planet plans to raise $25,000 through Kickstarter to complete the 60-minute documentary and begin distribution to schools, educators, libraries and community nonprofits, at no cost.
"Forgiveness" is told through interviews with people from all walks of life, about how the often complicated, always poignant, role of forgiveness has played in their lives. The question was posed to students, professionals, philosophers, scientists, spiritual or religious guides and thinkers of many faiths.
"We can never change the past, but we have the power to change the future through the personal liberating power of forgiveness," said Rafal Zielinski, indie filmmaker and founder of Film Art Planet. "I firmly believe that forgiveness in oneself and of others has the capacity to promote and sustain world peace."
"Forgiveness" will also serve as preparation for a feature length film reuniting Zielinski, director of Sundance award-winning "Fun", with Gina Wendkos, screenwriter of "Princess Diaries", to launch their next movie "Tiger Within." Wendkos has worked with Zielinski on "Ginger Ale Afternoon", which was also at Sundance, and has donated her forgiveness-centered script in hopes to spread positive change to the world.
The newly formed Film Art Planet hopes to make enlightening entertainment features with an educational component. Each full-length feature will have a sister documentary that explores the same theme in a wider scope and serves as an educational prelude to the feature film.
Public screenings of "Forgiveness" will take place in schools as well as in tandem with other community-based organizations. Each presentation of the documentary will be dedicated to proliferating the film's message: forgiveness' capacity to promote and sustain peace. In addition to screening the film publicly, an online, interactive "Wall of Forgiveness" (http://www.forgiveness-the-future.com) has been created to inspire further discussion and offshoot projects among students worldwide.
This website features numerous interview video clips, taken directly from the film's pre-production footage, which speak to the topic of forgiveness. On the site, students and others inspired by the film's message are able to forgive globally, sharing personal stories. Any tax deductable donation of $1 or more made through Kickstarter comes with an Associate Producer credit on the on the "Tiger Within" feature, currently in production. "It would be a dream come true to have a credit wall with one million Associate Producers for the film".
