Financial Education Benefits Center Encourages Healthy Lifestyle for Pregnancy and Beyond

Caring for oneself while pregnant can be a unique challenge. Nutritional needs change, doctor’s visits are often more frequent, and a list of “dos and don'ts” grows with the baby each trimester. And while it’s known that raising a child is expensive, preparing for birth and giving birth can be expensive, too. Financial Education Benefits Center (FEBC), a membership benefits company, is offering wellness and lifestyle benefits that may be useful to pregnant women and their families.

“Pregnancy can be a very exciting time, but things can get overwhelming, especially when it comes to costs,” said Jennifer Martinez, Manager at FEBC. “We encourage FEBC members who are pregnant — or have an immediate family member who is pregnant — to take advantage of our new benefits which may be especially helpful for someone who’s expecting.”

Pregnancy can be a very exciting time, but things can get overwhelming, especially when it comes to costs. We encourage FEBC members who are pregnant—or have an immediate family member who is pregnant—to take advantage of our new benefits which may be especially helpful for someone who's expecting.

These benefits are available to FEBC members of multiple plan levels. They include:

1)    Lab testing: Pregnant women may be required to undergo a series of blood or other lab tests as part of prenatal care. With this benefit, FEBC members can receive discounts on laboratory tests ranging from blood count, thyroid, liver function, and more from certain third-party laboratories.

2)    Vitamins and minerals: Folic acid is deemed an essential supplement for pregnant women and women who are planning to become pregnant. With this benefit, FEBC members can apply discounts to purchases of folic acid and a wide variety of other vitamins and minerals. Remember: Anyone taking a new vitamin or supplement should consult a doctor first.

3)    Work life services: Coordinating the logistics of a growing family can be tough. The work-life services benefit offered to FEBC members includes resources on pregnancy, childcare, and other family-related services. FEBC members can call a number to receive counseling or visit a website to read useful information.

“Preparing for a baby requires a lot of care and a lot of logistics,” said Martinez. “And hopefully each pregnant woman is receiving support all around. FEBC’s benefits are geared towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including during pregnancy, and beyond.”
